More small businesses are stepping up

As I originally reported last Friday, the McArthurs have started a trend.

I received this in my inbox just this evening:

Dana,

My name is Ray Harvey and along with my wife Paula own  Choco L’Art Restaurant in Washington, MO. I know Cindy [XXXX] has contacted you regarding our restaurant and the Tea Party this Saturday but wanted to tell you a little more. We will be open for business all day Saturday for the support of our guests during the Tea Party. In addition we have proclaimed Saturday “Tax Free Day” which means there will be no sales tax added on all purchases. Choco L’Art will pay the necessary tax to the state and the customer will pay none! This is a symbol of our support for the movement meeting in our city of Washington.

Let me whet your appetite… we always have at least twenty different house-made desserts. Picture Oreo Cheesecake, Hot Fudge Cheesecake, Coffee Liqueur Cheesecake, Warm Bread Pudding with made fresh caramel sauce, Chocolate Torte, Peanut Butter Pie, Key Lime Pie, Strawberry Pie, Black & Blueberry Pie, Triple Layer Chocolate Gateau Cake and Carrot Cake. How’s that sound? Fresh wraps, home-made Quiche and soups, Polynesian Salads, Black & Blue Salads and did I say that even all of our crackers are made by hand? Our dinner menu includes Beef Tenderloin, Frenched Rack of Lamb, Italian Fare, Angel Hair Pasta with shrimp/scallops, Seafood and much, much more! While your here let me create a chocolate martini for you. You won’t forget it.

We are a small family owned gourmet restaurant enjoying its fourth year.  Please come and visit us while you are in Washington this weekend. We offer real food made by a real chef…nothing frozen, thawed or processed. You can look over our lunch menu on our web site at www.mmmchocolart.com.

I can get on the soapbox and discuss taxes and government but I would be preaching to the choir.

Just come visit us and enjoy a great meal.

101 Elm Street, The Finest Address in Washington!

Well, I know where I’m having lunch and/or dessert on Saturday now.

Also!

Dana,
I heard on the Jamie Alman show this morning(6/22) about the Tea Party that is going to happen here in Washington, MO on the fourth of July!
I am soo excited….
I own and run a rubberstamp store here in Washington. I was planning on being closed on the fourth. But when I heard this I have changed my mind.
1. For the pure Capitalistic Spirit that I might make a few more bucks from the 97.1 listeners that might come to town that day.
2. And to offer and serve FREE Ice Tea to anyone attending the Tea Party who stops by my shop. (I hope I am not cutting off my nose to spite my face – so to speak. Having too much of a good thing, Like Glover’s kegger)
My shop is called The Artfull Hand. It is at 416 East Fifth St. Washington, MO 636-239-5995.
My hours of operation are 11 to 5 Tuesdays through Fridays And 10 Am to 5 on Saturdays.
My web site is www.theartfullhand.com.
