Astroturfers unite at IBEW protest

As discussed on my show last night, the counter-protest to the IBEW-astroturf rally last night in sough St. Louis went well. Organizing for America, the president’s on-going campaign group, phone-banked only a couple hundred supporters, mostly middle-aged Americans and older organizers, to the IBEW hall where Charlie Dooley spoke and Russ Carnahan promised the world, according to several conservatives who had gotten inside.

Picture 3Supporters of the president’s legislation hurled slurs, insults, and other things they would define as hate speech on any other day to those outside peacefully protesting the president’s health care legislation. One in particular seemed to think (or maybe he was ordered) it was his duty to get in Bill Hennessy’s face but that’s all that happened.

The astroturfers had a very expensive rockstar tour bus, compare that with the old military vehicle someone loaned us for use during the demonstration; only pre-approved, printed Obamacare signs were allowed inside. The Obamacare-supporting lady who stomped on my feet and tried to shove me off the sidewalk after I asked her a question last Saturday was there; she kept wasting taxpayer dollars by calling the police because she apparently found a difference of opinion threatening. Unreal. The police laughed at the claims.

Jim Hoft has a report, as does Sharp Elbows. The ponytail guy was at the McCaskill Hillsboro event and one of the dudes giving me janky looks.

Show 93

Packed.

On deck:

- News on Tuesday’s St. Louis-led Whole Foods “Buycott.”
- Call-ins from tonight’s IBEW counter-protest; astroturfers are joining with IBEW to trump up inflated support for the health care executive power legislation.
- WWJD on HCR?
- Another argument I hear from libs is that US life expectancy is lower than that of Europe’s, and libs credit socialist healthcare. First, it’s barely lower, and secondly, that’s not the reason. I’ll explain why.

LASTLY. If you’re going to tonight’s counter-protest, astroturfers want to provoke violence, when not perpetrating it themselves. Don’t take the bait. Remember grace.

8pm CST. The only Conservative Alternative.

Watch this space as I’ll be uploading with prep and resources, plus bumper music list, as usual.

* 24th State has a photo of the big ol’ bus that the “grassroots” Obamacare astroturfers had at tonight’s rally:

First it was “unAmerican,” then it was “evil-mongering,” then “treasonous,” now a crime

This officer has a warped view of free speech, which is sad. (I’m furious with the DNC for using women and minorities as pawns, but that’s for another day). It’s okay for the counter protesters on the property to display their signs and photos, but not others.

Note what he says about this not being America anymore. Dude.

An affair to remember with … Robin Carnahan?

I don’t like getting involved in people’s personal lives, talking about their children, et al. because it’s a tool of the left and I have an aversion to their tactics.

That being said, I don’t appreciate the way in which the Missouri left has tried to distract from the fact that Americans have lost faith in liberal leaders by smearing the personal lives of people like Roy Blunt. People have long stopped paying attention to their made up stories that Blunt had an affair. Blunt isn’t even my BFF; it’s well-known that Bill and I wouldn’t allow him to speak at the July 4th Tea Party. Regardless, I don’t care who the politician is, I don’t like seeing such thuggishness lobbed at any candidate. It could very easily be turned around, like Katie Favazza demonstrates with Robin Carnahan. Her article is a must-read.

So please, let’s stick to the issues.

The Whole Foods “Buycott”

Decided upon last night, announced this morning. Bill came up with the “teaparty buycott” phrase.

After watching the union and hippie boycotts on the news we decided to stick up for John Mackey, who is being bullied simply for his free speech.

Things kick off here in St. Louis at 6pm on September 1st at the Whole Foods on Brentwood.

ST. LOUIS – (Business Wire) The national leadership team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition this morning announced a series of Tea Party Buycott events designed to support John Mackey and the Whole Foods grocery chain. Mackey is the CEO whose op-ed inThe Wall Street Journal opposing Obamacare and supporting free market health care reform has sparked unprecedented and unwarranted attacks from left wing propagandists.

The first two events are scheduled for Tuesday evening, September 1, 2009 in St. Louis, Missouri and Dallas, Texas, with additional events in other cities and locales to come. The St. Louis event will be held at the Whole Foods store located in Town and Country, Missouri off Clayton Road and will begin at 6 pm. The Dallas kickoff event will be held at the Whole Foods Market located at 11700 Preston Rd., Dallas, Texas and will begin at 7 pm. Details of these Tea Party Buycotts and future buycotts can be found online at http://www.teapartybuycott.com.

Dana Loesch of the St. Louis Tea Party explained that a Tea Party Buycott asks supporters to gather [in this case] at the Whole Foods store to show economic support. “We are asking supporters to do all their week’s grocery shopping that night. Most tea party supporters are not regular customers of Whole Foods, and we want to show our support for Mr. Mackey’s championship of free market health care reforms.”

Katrina Pierson of the Dallas Tea Party echoed Loesch’s comments, adding, “Whole Foods will be supported by tens of thousands of fellow Americans, showcasing the economic impact the Tea Party movement can play in support of people who share our ideals.”

Kevin Jackson, St. Louis-based conservative black author, said of the event, “This Tea Party Buycott will send a message that many Americans share Mr. Mackey’s concerns. We support his message and his company. We also say to other CEOs with the courage of Mr. Mackey, we will support you as well.”

Gina Loudon of St. Louis, Missouri, who conceived the Tea Party Buycott concept and website athttp://www.teapartybuycott.com, said, “We’re going to hit them where it counts—the wallet.”

Michael Patrick Leahy, national spokesperson for the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition, said, “We’re taking the Alinsky boycott tactic and we’re turning it on its head. We’re making a positive statement of support, showing that fiscally conservative Americans have purchasing power, and we are more than willing to exercise it in support of great companies like Whole Foods and great CEOs like John Mackey.”

The national leadership team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition includes many of the local and national organizers of the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Party, which was attended by an estimated one million Americans in over 900 cities.
