Matthews to gun owner: “Why did you bring a loaded gun to a public meeting?”

Ugh, painful to watch. Matthews curses, makes inane comparisons (“You voted for Ron Paul? You carry a gun? OMG, BIRTHER ALERT!”) and belittles the guy.

My facetious answer on Anderson Cooper 360 regarding this dude is what the libs are freaking out over across the blogosphere with usual klass. Jeebus people need a sense of humor. I suspect they’re like the most boring people with whom to party EVER.

Matthews makes a massive error in logic being that people who carry firearms are violent people. The ones who do illegally, yes, but facts don’t rule in favor of those who allege such about law-abiding, gun-owning citizens. The fact that this man legally owns a firearm has nothing to do with the healthcare debate; it’s a tactic Matthews and other poor arguers are using as a way to detract from the fact that the president is on record admitting that he is unfamiliar with 3200, there are NO guarantees in the house bill that we would not slide towards single payer, the Hyde Amendment does nothing to protect premiums from being unconstitutionally used for things, or that it offers nothing in terms of tort reform. Those are the real issues, not the issue of a guy peacefully exercising his Second Amendment right at a town hall. No, he’s not the poster boy for responsible firearm practices if it fell out of his pocket. [*Ed note: I’m told the man did not carry his firearm in his pocket; rather he carried in a “Blackhawk drop leg holster, the kind law enforcement/special ops uses.” **More. Unconcealed carry is LEGAL at such forums.]

It’s interesting though, when discussing responsibility and accountability, that STILL nothing is said about Kenneth Gladney on the left – oh, aside from the same ol’ same ol’ racist uncle Tom comments from people who are more eager to defend a liberal black man that an independent one. I guess that independence is what gets them. They excuse the bad behavior for the advancement of liberalism but freak when things exponentially unequal to those offenses occur on the right. Because their silence and ridicule condones that action, their credibility on other issues is compromised.

“When you bring a gun, violence might be afoot,” says Matthews. No, violence was already afoot evident by the thugs who caused problems in Tampa, the ones who beat Gladney and were arrested for assault, and the ones who caused problems elsewhere. Yes, LET’S have the discussion as to who has been statistically more violent and rabble-rousing at protests. I think what you find may shock you. Or not. Listen …. crickets.
