Fines, whatever it takes – they’ll get your money

Even though thousands upon thousands turned up at town halls over the summer to voice opposition, even though the polls show that the overwhelming majority of Americans not only oppose Obamacare – but also disapprove of the the way the president is handling the government, some bull-headed Democrats are convinced that they know better and intend to push it through anyway.

It gets better, though: they’re exploring ways to fine you – one option:

Americans would be fined up to $3,800 for failing to buy health insurance under a plan that circulated in Congress on Tuesday as divisions among Democrats undercut President Barack Obama‘s effort to regain traction on his health care overhaul.

Can’t have that extra money in your pocket – you may use it to go purchase better treatment elsewhere! Noooo! The Hive Mind decrees that we all must be EQUAL.

Pelosi is convinced that she has the votes. Other Democrats, those terrified over their seats in upcoming elections, are now balking at the public option.

I don’t think that all the people who voted for Barack Obama were voting for a man who would allow himself to be led around the capital by the ear at the hand of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. The article is correct in saying that:

The fast-moving developments put Obama in a box. As a candidate, he opposed fines to force individuals to buy health insurance, and he supported setting up a public insurance plan. On Tuesday, fellow Democrats publicly begged to differ on both ideas.

Of course, this is the same man who said that he wasn’t cutting Medicare one week after proposing to cut Medicare. It just further highlights a president who, instead of leading, follows the Speaker of the House and her minions. Not only do we have a president in office whose goals are at odds with American prosperity, but he lacks the executive experience (remember me prattling on about this during the campaign?) needed to effectively lead.
