The Plouffe Effect, PLUS: St. Louis City Dems Gets Chi-Town Cash

Last night I discussed how President Obama was making moves to do the job of the DNC Chair. (Seems I’m not the only one with questions as to who will ultimately be in control, either.) From the NYT:

Mr. Obama has asked his former campaign manager, David Plouffe, to oversee House, Senate and governor’s races to stave off a hemorrhage of seats in the fall. The president ordered a review of the Democratic political operation — from the White House to party committees — after last week’s Republican victory in the Massachusetts Senate race, aides said.

In addition to Mr. Plouffe, who will primarily work from the Democratic National Committee in consultation with the White House, several top operatives from the Obama campaign will be dispatched across the country to advise major races as part of the president’s attempt to take greater control over the midterm elections, aides said.

My emphasis.

Now couple that with the post that 24thstate just blew out:

The CityDems decided to launch a Blunt attack site today.  The site is funded by the DEMOCRATIC FEDERAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE OF ST LOUIS CITY, which is the PAC of the Democratic City Central Committee.

The largest donor to the Democratic Federal Campaign Committee of St Louis City is one, ROBERT WISLOW, from Chicago, IL, who made his donation of $10,000 in November of 2008, after the election.

Who is Robert Wislow?  Well, he’s friends with Rahm Emanuel. They’re connected through the After School Works program.  He’s connected to Barack Obama – been a friend of his and a donor for at least a decade.  Why, he even served on the ill-fated Chicago 2016 Olympic committe.   And he’s the former business partner of Antoin “Tony” Rezko.  In short – he’s a mover and shaker in the Chicago political machine, and for some reason, he decides that the St Louis City Dems need $10,000 right after the election of Barack Obama.

It’s quite the donation to city politics.  Coming as it did after the election, one has to ask what it was for?  Who was getting paid?  What was the money used for?  And what could possibly lead a big Obama supporter connected to Chicago donor politics to give money to a sad little political organization in Missouri?

Read the full post – there is some excellent investigative work going down at 24thstate.

There’s a reason that cash monnay was filtered down the St. Louis: the Carnahan Twins are battling it out for two important seats this year. I would not be one bit surprised if one of Plouffe’s operatives was already here doing oppo – in fact, we know they are; they’re going through local organizations like the city dems to do it.

What was that about astroturfing again?
